A musical duet? Or an actual romantic (or even just friendly) duet between two individuals; vibraphone and marimba. The story is classic. Throughout the piece, rhythms and melodies of both instruments compete with, yet complete each other. There is conflict and resolution like any great story. It's a musical presentation of a real-life relationship.
To be more specific, a mallet piece composed of time signatures based on 5 and for two players. The way the melodies and rhythms of the xylophone and marimba interact is sure to engage any listener. Both players are challenged with demanding two-height playing and a roller coaster of dynamics and emotion throughout the piece.
